The picturesque old town of Castelsardo is located on a rocky hill 300 ft. above the sea. The land varies from mountains to hills, from highlands to miles of untouched coastline of the most different looks. Within few minutes drive it is possible to change from steep granite slopes modelled by the wind to enchanting, small velvet beaches.

It is still surrounded by walls, with narrow alleys crossing it in every direction all the way up to the fort, creating a unique atmosphere.
Worth a visit are the Casa Comunale of the 12th c., the Cathedral with its ceramic dome and bell tower, the Belvedere and the tower Porta al Mare. Very interesting is also the Intreccio (wattle) Museum, where it's possible to see how this still important local handycraft is hand made.
Curious is the nearby Elephant Rock: just outside the town, a bizarre rock modelled by the winds in the millenniums with the shape of an elephant.

Holy week celebrations, in Easter week with processions and musical contests, Traditional Sardinian Theatre plays during all summer. International Wooden Sculptures display in July. Sardinian Handicraft Fair in September.
